Type Locality and Naming
Jiaolai Basin. The Xingezhuang Formation was named by Liu Mingwei (1994) in Xingezhuang of the Laiyang City. The key section is the Wujiazhuang – Hongtuya section in the Guliu town of Laiyang City, Shandong (120°44', 36°58'). Lower-Middle formation in the Wangshi Gr.
Lithology and Thickness
The Xingezhuang Formation consists of yellowish green, grey and purple grey siltstone and shale, a conglomerate bed occurs at the bottom. It is 346 m to 723 m thick.

Lower contact
It contacts conformably with the Linjiazhuang Fm.

Regional extent
The formation occurs in the Zhucheng and Laiyang areas, Shandong.
